Helm of Awe Copper Coin – Aegishjalmur Stave | Shire Post Mint

Helm of Awe Copper Coin — "I bear the helm of awe"

The Helm of Awe — Aegishjalmur in Old Icelandic, also called the Warrior's Stave or Helm of Terror — is one of the most powerful Norse symbols of protection and courage. This solid copper coin carries the eight-armed stave, struck the same on both sides.

  • Solid copper
  • 1.25" (3.2 cm) diameter
  • 1/8" thick
  • Double-sided Warrior's Stave design (same on both faces)

In the Fafnismal of the Poetic Edda, the dragon Fafnir credits the Helm of Awe for his invincibility, wearing it before the sons of men in defense of his treasure. Later Icelandic folklore records a working in which the stave is pressed between the brows with the words "Aegishjalm er eg ber milli bruna mer" — "I bear the helm of awe between my brows." Carry it as a reminder of your own strength when facing life's challenges.
