Hnefatafl is the historic Viking game of wit, strategy and military intelligence — and unlike most games, its 37 pieces are not divided equally, because life and war rarely are.

Sense of the Authentic

Using pieces made of ox bone certainly has a literal feel of the past, using materials that the Vikings might have had access to. The string along the outside of the board seems to be very sturdy and should last a good while. The board is also high quality in materials and the design again enhance has the fun of this very delightful game.

Beautiful Set, But…..

I received the travel set and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I’d highly recommend it to anyone. My one and only complaint is that the leather mat has some black marks where there should be none. This seems to be from wet ink or whatever they use to draw the playing grid. It probably wasn’t dry when they folded the leather mat for shipping.

Wow. This is a beautiful set. The individual pieces are hand made and the board is 100% leather and looks amazing. It’s big too. Thought it would be smaller but it’s big. And easy to store. Highly recommend this set. And it’s a fun and challenging game

Beautiful set

I got this set as a birthday present for my husband. He has been wanting a hnefatafl game for some time now, but I didn't want to get anything that looked or felt cheap. The board is absolutely beautiful and the bone pieces are amazingly detailed. When my husband opened it he immediately said it was an heirloom. This was by far the best thing I have bought online in quite a while!

The Best Tafl Set
